Yoga for Mental Wellness

A plethora of research has highlighted the benefits of yoga for a variety of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and stress disorders.

Yoga can offer relief by improving attention, concentration and sleep, by lifting mood and regulating the body’s stress response, and by improving overall body awareness (also called interoception, our ability to interpret the signals our body sends us). Yoga can also help improve social skills such as cooperation and provide a sense of belonging and social support.

This is a trauma-sensitive yoga class; you can expect suggestions of gentle stretches or movements, invitations to feel whatever comes up in your body or mind, and a safe place to do it in. However, everything offered is ultimately your choice. No head stands, jump-backs, or twisting oneself into a pretzel.
