Bio

Laura is a registered psychologist who completed her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2006. She has experience in a variety of settings, from residential care, a school for children with special needs, a forensic remand centre, and the public health system. After living away for many years, she returned to her home in Western Newfoundland in 2011 to be near her family.

Laura works with both children and adults to focus on a variety of developmental and mental health challenges. She offers psychological counseling to adolescents and adults for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other life stressors. She also offers intervention and comprehensive assessment services to preschoolers and children for anxiety, behavioural challenges, early developmental trauma, and developmental needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and learning disorders, ADHD and more. An accomplished speaker and educator, Laura offers presentations and workshops to service providers, educational organizations, and communities that are individualized to the client’s needs.

In 2013, Laura completed her 200 hour certification in vinyasa yoga and has obtained training in children’s yoga and yoga for children with special needs. Laura’s adult community classes are fun, adventurous, and balance relaxation with rejuvenation. She has recently completed the Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga training in Massachusetts. Her emphasis has been on interoceptive awareness and using a mind-body approach to conditions.

Laura is the Western & Labrador Director for the Association of Psychology Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, she has also served in a volunteer capacity for a variety of organizations such as the Autism Society of Newfoundland & Labrador, and the fasdNL Support Network. She continues to lend her time and expertise to local fundraising and advocacy efforts through donation-based yoga classes and other endeavors.
